Russia got 93% of votes from the people of Crimea where the people agreed Crimea to be part of Russia. However, U.S and E.U countries are not agreeing about the result of the votes. E.U countries and U.S is concerned that Russia is resulting on isolation from the rest of the world community.
In my opinion, I predict that Crimea would be part of Russia because majority of people in Crimea wants them to be part of Russia instead of Ukraine. If Crimea would be still part of Ukraine, the people might suffer from discrimination. In fact, Russia promised the ultimate authorities for Crimea, where there is no discrimination. So for the people in Crimea, it's better for them to be part of Russia. However, this event could be a big spark for conflicts between Russia and other European countries because Russia would grow more influence to the eastern Europe.
I can see your point regarding the influence that Russia is currently imposing on Crimea especially after the 93% vote of the people of Crimea agreeing to join Russia. You also talk about the US and EU, a multi governmental organization, disagreeing with Russia. I see your point about Crimea and Ukraine losing their sovereignty because of outside influences, but can you explain more about how it is a loss of sovereignty due to a multi governmental organization?
ReplyDeleteGood point Kohjiro but what if there isn't a connection to loss of sovereignty and NGOs here?
ReplyDeleteTo make a point relating to what you said Harry, you should do a little research maybe about the natural gas pipelines that run through Ukraine, the Russian naval base in Savastapol, and the history of the USSR (specifically in terms of Russian and Ukraine). Once you do a little research on these three things, tell me if you think this situation is as simple as it sounds.
